Preliminary study of the pre-germinative treatments of <i>Juniperus oxycedrus</i> L. and <i>Pistacia lentiscus</i> L. in the Saida region (Western Algeria)

Abstract Juniperus oxycedrus L. and Pistacia lentiscus are two taxa with a rigid or enough structure caused by solid pericarp resulting in strong inhibition of the germination. The objective this work was to test effectiveness certain pre-germinative treatments on germination rate seeds aim restoring perturbed ecosystems. In context 180 from each 2 examined species were tested laboratory (the number repetitions is 5, reach degree freedom 'ddl'). divided into 4 groups 20 treated as follows: 1) Immersion concentrated (95%) sulphuric acid (H SO ) for 10, 30 60 minutes; 2) Mechanical scarification scalpel; 3) Soaking hot water (at 100°C) seconds, seconds 4) Cold stratification at 5°C 24 hours. There also control group representing species, which remained neutral. case results showed that improves after mechanical scalpel (92%), followed cold (86%) treatment minutes (82%). H 10 minutes, respectively, soaked water; lot did not germinate. 88% 84% stratification. On other hand, soaking does allow these seeds. same result observed (0% days).
